Today, many people strive for the American Dream in hopes of achieving success through hardworking and determination. People come from all over the world hoping for a better life to attain the goal they have been dreaming of. The American Dream should be achievable through hard-work and dedication no matter your race, ethnicity, or gender. The cartoon above depicts the cracks and problems in the ability to achieve the American dream.
The cartoon shows how there is a problem in the dream's potential for all people. While the dream is directed towards everyone, there are many problems in the equality and available opportunities for everyone. The majority of immigrants are placed in the lower class of society and no matter how hard they work and strive to be successful, it can be insanely difficult to achieve the full American dream that is presented as being available for everyone. Race and ethnicity also impact the potential to achieve the dream. Black Americans are known for having a harder time because of society views and the history of prejudice towards African American's throughout time. Thus, the dream has many problems in discrimination and unequal opportunities that make the dream very difficult but not impossible to achieve.
The American Dream supposedly includes a stable job, family, husband, and a happy lifestyle. Although the dream has many problems in the results presented after this hard work and determination is shown. Many people who strive to become wealthy are stuck and can not grow or achieve the goal they expect. Because of this, fate and chance have a lot to do with one's success.
Thus, while there are many problems in unequal opportunities depending on your gender or race and the results presented after hard work, it is still possible to achieve the American dream through seizing opportunities, resisting failure, and striving for success to achieve your goal.
I like the fact that you said the American Dream is available for everyone, but not everyone can achieve it due to inequalities in race and gender. This is very unfair because people are supposed to be free and able to have the opportunity to achieve their dreams; but factors like race and gender can often times play a major role and can limit many in what they can do. I also like how you included the cartoon as a visual representation of what life really is like for people who come here from foreign country seeking their goals and success.
