Is the education system made for everyone?

Education today has a certain set of standards and expectations made for every child. The way a child is tested or expected to learn is to same no matter who they are. Although, does this really give everyone a fair chance?
Students learn in many different ways and the way one student is successful does not mean the next child will strive in the same aspects. Instead of expecting everyone to learn and act in one specific way shouldn’t the school system have a variety of ways depending on the student?
The school system should be expected to realize the difference between every student and a one way system is not helpful towards everyone.

Although the world is changing dramatically every day, the school system and the way students are educated is at a halt. The school system is still a one size fits all process. In order for education to improve, the system must understand that students learn in different ways and settings and schools must adapt to this idea to be helpful towards everyone.

In order to make this dramatic impact, many things need to change in the system. For example, problems such as the achievement gap, overcrowding in classrooms, not preparing teachers adequately, and absenteeism has prevented schools from taking a step forward and improving education. Taking these steps can make a change and help the education system be better and educate everyone equally.

  1. I agree with everything you have said in this post, i don't think every student learns in the same way. Some learn more with visuals, some by actually doing it, some by just listening etc. so we need to be able to provide students with different teaching styles. I like how at the end you mentioned that the school system can't make this change without changing a few other things such as the achievement gap, overcrowding, and absenteeism.

  2. I like how you related the education system to one size fits all and how students shouldn't be expected to learn the same exact way as their peers. I completely agree with your post, there are many different styles of learning yet students are expected to show knowledge in a uniform manner which doesn't make sense.
